"Jamar is in love with Claire. And it's killing him. Claire is in love with what Jamar sells. And it's killing her."
Coca Love is a short film I wrote in 2015. The story is really a movement from bondage to freedom. It's a personal story wrapped in a totally fictional package. And it's the first film I've made since graduating from film school in 2011.
I've spent years doing many other things other than making film and in the beginning of 2016 I decided to change that.

After waking up from a dream where the deep, unexplored places of the ocean were calling to me, I tied a tent to the back of my motorycle and headed to the mountains for 4 days. This was in late January after wrapping production on a hip hop music video for the amazing Fullee Love.
Those hours spent away from my cell phone, financial obligations, voices of others allowed me to really hear what was in my own heart, yelling to get out.
Some people communicate with the world by writing blogs, others do it by writing music, or curating a well-designed Instagram page. My method of choice to interact with the world is through motion picture. It is more than a career, more than a way of paying the bills.
     It is a lifestyle.

Coca Love is just the beginning of a cinematic exploration into the depths of imagination and creativity. My goal is not to learn "how to make a movie," but instead, "how I make movies." So if you love watching films stick close, there might be a screening of Coca Love to attend someday in the not-to-distant future.

Below are some production stills from the film, which is currently in post production.
